Text Alert Program Terms of Use

New York State Higher Education Services Corporation (NYS HESC) offers its constituents reminder notifications via SMS text alerts.

To enroll in these text alerts, you must confirm your consent and fill all required fields on the HESC appointment or event reservation form. This enrollment represents that you have provided accurate identifying information and the authority to consent to receive SMS text messages at the phone number provided on your form. Your carrier’s standard messaging and data rates may apply.

In the event that you change, deactivate, or relinquish your phone number, it is your responsibility to opt-out of the SMS alert system via STOP. Please note that opting out of reminder notifications from HESC will NOT modify or cancel your appointment with HESC, nor alter your registration in any event that you have previously registered for.

Please note, your enrollment to receive HESC reminder notifications may remain valid from the time of your consent until the alert service is cancelled via the STOP option during this timeframe.

In the event that you change, deactivate, or relinquish your phone number, it will be necessary for you to modify/cancel your appointment via the HESC appointment calendars found at https://startheregetthere.ny.gov/callback-reservation/scholarships prior to any such change, deactivation, or relinquishment. Your failure to do so for any of those reasons may result in the receipt of unwanted correspondence from HESC.

Official HESC appointment calls and reminder notifications will arrive from 1-888-697-4372.
Please disable any call screening or call blocking features.

After texting STOP to 1-888-697-4372 you will receive one (1) text message confirming that your request to cancel all text alerts at that phone number has been processed:

- Your opt-out request may take up to 2 hours to process
- This is the exclusive method to opt-out from reminder notifications from HESC

Text UNSTOP to 1-888-697-4372 to re-activate your enrollment to HESC reminder notifications after having opted-out
After texting UNSTOP to 1-888-697-4372 you will receive two (2) text messages confirming that your re-enrollment request has been processed and that your opt-in has been successful:

- This is the exclusive method to re-enroll in reminder notifications from HESC

Enrollment to NYS HESC Reminder Notifications represents that:
- You have provided accurate identifying information.
- You have authority to consent to receive SMS text messages at the phone number provided on HESC appointment or event reservation form submitted.
- You agree to any message and data rates that may apply.
- You understand this is a one-time enrollment, which will remain valid from the time of consent until cancelled via STOP during this timeframe.
- Opting out of HESC reminder notifications does not modify nor cancel your appointment or attendance to any HESC event.
- If you change, deactivate, or relinquish your call-back phone number, you must opt-out of the SMS alert system via STOP, AND modify/cancel your appointment via the via the HESC appointment calendars found at https://startheregetthere.ny.gov/callback-reservation/scholarships; failure to do so may result in the receipt of unwanted correspondence from HESC.
