Special Certification Procedures for NYS Financial Aid Award Recipients with a COVID-19 Flag

Dear Colleagues,

HESC will begin to process certifications for students who were impacted by COVID-19 as designated by the college. Full guidance on processing these certifications is found here. As a reminder, certifications using the COVID flag must be completed online at hesc.ny.gov in transaction processing. Any certification sent in an automated file will not be processed.

Students whose certifications were already sent to HESC and are awaiting processing will now be processed using the guidance provided.

HESC's TAP Processing Schedule for August will be modified to accommodate the processing of 2019-20 certifications for students impacted by COVID-19. Processing of 2021-22 award certifications will resume in September. Applications for the 2021-22 academic year will continue to be processed and estimated awards will appear on the weekly Student Status Listings.
