New Guidance on Calculation of the Excelsior Scholarship Award

Dear Colleague:

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) recently sent a letter to school certifying officials with new guidance regarding the calculation of Excelsior Scholarship awards.

Military funding must now be deducted from a recipient’s 2016-17 resident tuition rate charge, along with Pell Grants, TAP awards and other eligible financial aid The Excelsior Scholarship Calculations Manual, section 1.1, has been updated to reflect this change.

Please recertify students for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years in accordance with this guidance and submit as post certifications to update student accounts.
