What Are Colleges Looking For?

Colleges are looking for a lot of things. First and foremost they are looking at your grades, and whether or not you challenged yourself by taking honors or advanced placement classes.

But it doesn't stop there.

Colleges want to see what you can bring to their school. They are looking to see if you are a leader, like challenge, take initiative, are committed to community service, and inspire others.  They want to know what special talents you'll bring to campus.

How do they determine this without knowing you personally?

They look at your entrance exam (SAT, ACT, SAT Subject Tests) scores, your letters of recommendation, extracurricular activities, jobs, internships, and your college essay.
